August Highlight Reel…

I have ended up taking a month away from the blog. Partly because I wanted to focus on our summer together as a family, partly because sometimes life happens. 

August was an eventful month that ran the whole spectrum of total joy to total disaster and everything in between. As I try to keep this blog a fairly happy diary of our lives, and I find we don’t tend to need help to remember the bad or hard things, this is a little highlight reel post.

So here is our August and our summer highlights, primarily featuring my two little terrors of course!

Springtime Crochet

I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter weekend! We have been blessed to spend time with lots of family we don’t see too often which was lovely and a certain little girl was gifted far too much chocolate 😉

Crochet Circle Cardigan

It definitely felt like spring had arrived this weekend, we had some beautiful warm sunny days along with a spring storm for good measure. Emma has seen the sunshine and decided the only appropriate clothing is tiny little summer dresses, every morning starts with a battle to get a t-shirt and leggings on underneath! I realised that what her wardrobe lacks is a lightweight cardigan or shrug for this type of weather. Cue a new crochet project!

This worked up so quickly, even though I was making it up as I went along. I’m really pleased with how it has turned out and my picky little miss actually wears it! It is only Stylecraft Special DK, so it’s purse friendly, wearable and washable!

There are a few little kinks I want to iron out, so another one is in the works but then I will be putting the pattern up for you all. Just in case anyone would like to make one for a little person in their life?! I think I might have to scale it up for an adult version too. 😉

I do have a question for you though…. Is a cardigan without sleeves still a cardigan or is it a shrug or something else?? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Simple Saturday

Today is the last day of Vince’s holiday and it is sunshine and blue skies! We are keeping the day simple, just the 4 of us at home doing a few errands/jobs with a little barbecue later for dinner, and a film this evening for us once the kids are in bed.

It has been a lovely few weeks and our activities have ranged from exciting & energetic days out, through to a day spent watching Disney films with huge amounts of popcorn and everything in between.

I think I’m ready for tomorrow, the start of a new week, Vince back to work and a slightly more usual routine for us all. So for now I just thought I’d share a few favourite photos taken recently.
