The Sibling Project 2016 – June & July

15 July 2016 by Naomi 1 Comment

Siblings June

I missed last months sibling project post so there are a few photos here (all from my phone as usual at the moment!) from June & July to catch up.

My little brother & sister duo are simply not that little anymore. I cannot get over how grown up they both seem these days. Of course Emma will be off to school in a matter of weeks, and she has a fresh load of attitude in preparation, some sweet and some not so much, which keeps how much she is growing up fresh in my mind. But even Matthew seems to have grown so much recently. He is so full of personality and mischief now, he definitely understands the word ‘no’ but chooses to ignore us, grin, and repeat his actions as all cheeky one year olds should!

Together they are still my favourite little siblings. They are both growing as quickly as the weeds in my front garden. They still love each other and are starting to play together more every day. Emma is so patient with him and still protects and looks out for him especially when we are out in social situations.

The only time we ever have a problem is when Matthew finishes his meal first and deems it his duty to help Emma finish hers. The help is not often gratefully received but he has sneaky ninja reflexes where it concerns food…. or stairs….. But he’s still not even walking on his own yet!!!

The above is what happens when Matthew is not restrained in some way for a photo… crazy funny on the move face! This just cracks me up and I had to share it with you!

Well, that’s my little siblings in July!

The Sibling Project 2016 – May

28 May 2016 by Naomi 1 Comment

E&M may

In my last post I mentioned how in the harder moments I was just trying to put one foot in front of the other and trust in God. Goodness this month has truly made me live those words with varying degrees of success. I can safely say I will not be sad to see the back of May 2016.

However there have been hard moments when I have looked up and seen my two little blessings loving each other and thought if God’s plan for my life right now is to be at home being their mum I’m not doing too badly at all.

My little brother sister duo are growing up just beautifully if not a little quickly. To me this month has been about communication for both of them.

Emma just cracks me up with her little phrases. She quite often puts ‘indeed’ on the end of sentences which gets all the smiles from me, or answers a request with ‘of course!’. I don’t know she just sounds so grown up in those moments.

Matthew has finally started breaking out some new sounds on a more regular basis. Although ’em-ma’ is still his favourite word and I kind of want it to stay that way, I now regularly hear ‘mamama’, ‘dadada’ and other babble.

Happily, the two of them are still loving being in each others company. I love watching their bond grow but occasionally find that Emma is now a little too protective of Matthew, he’s no longer quite the baby we all still want him to be!

The Siblings Project 2016 – February

18 February 2016 by Naomi Leave a Comment

It doesn’t feel at all like a month has passed since my first Sibling Project post!

munchkin-love

Last month I wrote about how Matthew had started to crawl which meant he could take evasive action from unwanted sibling affection. This month however, he is much faster and more sure of himself and uses this to shower Emma with her fair share of over enthusiastic sibling love. If his big sister is within reach he wants to be touching, poking, pulling, sitting, climbing or dribbling on her!

For the most part Emma is still very accommodating and in some instances just as forgiving. We had a moment this week where without us realising what was happening Matthew pulled a whole handful of hair from her poor little head! There were tears and cuddles and then she was right back to rolling about with him… and he was right back to trying get her hair. I have had quite a few conversations with Emma this month about when will Matthew be bigger/grown up/walking/talking, I think she has come to the conclusion that he will be even more fun to play with or boss about then.

Mostly this month I am just glad to see how much they love one another, and how it seems to be growing all the time. I wondered if at some point Emma would grow a little bored of her baby brother, if the novelty would wear off? But that is simply not the case, she is forever keeping him entertained, performing to make him (and herself) laugh and trying her best to help him. New for February she seems to have decided to take on the role of teacher, cries of  ‘I’m just trying to teach him to walk mummy!’ are both amusing and worrying. For Matthews part, like I said he can’t get enough!
