In the clouds…

29 March 2015 by Naomi Leave a Comment

Oh dear, has it really been 3 weeks since I last posted!?

I can not tell you what I’ve been doing that has kept me so busy – I don’t know! Other than growing a baby of course 😉

Only 4 weeks till our due date now and goodness I am tired and uncomfortable, I’m quite keen for a slightly earlier arrival it has to be said. One thing is for sure though, whether you believe ‘baby brain’ is a genuine thing or not I do feel like my head is in the clouds these days, my concentration and ability to think clearly and quickly is pretty shot!

Matthew's-Corner

I’ve also been in the clouds with my little bunting project too, you might remember I mentioned it in this post. I finally finished it and have it hung over baby boy’s crib in our room. I feel much more prepared for his arrival now I know he has his own little cosy corner to come home too… while my hospital bag remains only partially packed, daft really!

bunting-and-canvas

I thoroughly enjoyed making this, there really is something so therapeutic about hand stitching with felt, so simple and so easy. I really want to make a felt quiet book for baby boy like the one I made for Emma (see it here!) but it was quite time consuming so I will see how much time I have on my hands in a few months!

hab-bunting

At some point soon(ish) I want to crochet a couple of 3d hot air balloons to go with the bunting when it is moved into the childrens bedroom in 6 months or so… Ooohh I just had this vision of a big crocheted hot air balloon cushion. So love that idea!

Have to point out the canvas, in case you missed it! Isn’t it lovely! The lovely ladies from our church held a baby shower for me a few weeks ago and gifted it to me. It is baby boy’s church family tree, throughout the party each of the women added their thumb print to it. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful church family.
The scripture reads – ‘How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.’ Psalm 119v9

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and wish you all the best things for the week ahead!

Focus for 2015

2 January 2015 by Naomi 3 Comments

Like most people at this time of year, I have been reflecting on the last 12 months and looking to the coming year, giving mind to what I might resolve to do/set as goals/have as my word for the year/etc…

Each passing new year I feel less and less inclined to create a list of specific resolutions, largely because I find they are too easily broken which sounds too final. Once something is ‘broken’ I think I am less likely to try again with it, I would rather have a sense of falling off the horse but being able to get back up and on again. Does that make sense? I just think, at least personally, having the right mind-set when first starting something is important… Or perhaps I have just rambled out some baby-brained nonsense!

None the less I do have some hopes and intentions for 2015 and as I was reading in my quiet time today I read through the following verse which seems to say it all. So I may not have a word or a list of resolutions for the year but I do have a scripture! (..and in all honesty I do believe that is better.)

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Romans 12:12

This perfectly covers the things I intend to remember to live by and areas I wish to improve upon in this coming year of miracles and challenges for our lovely little family.

As we have now taken down the christmas decorations I was in need of a new print for above our fire place. It has been bare wall for two days now and was driving me a little nutty but I was struggling for decoration inspiration to fit between christmas and my usual February mantlepiece. Often in the past I have designed my own prints for this purpose but today a quick flick around Pinterest for my chosen verse and I came upon the perfect free printable.

romans12_12

Muted tones that are not festive brights, but still warm in colour, not the wintry blues and whites I was trying to avoid yet seeing everywhere. It is available as a free download from I Should Be Mopping The Floor.com 🙂

When I have better light and a completed mantle I will show you the print in it’s frame. Love it.

Do you have any goals/words/themes/scriptures to focus on in 2015? I’d love for you to share them!

Goodbye Autumn…

1 December 2014 by Naomi Leave a Comment

So today is apparently the official first day of winter… and the start of Christmas judging by the number of fully decorated trees and houses in my social media feeds!

I am almost ready to welcome the Christmas season into our home and by the coming weekend I am sure we will be fully decked too. But for now I am still enjoying my cosy autumn colours, so here are some of my favourite photos I had meant to share a few weeks ago…

::: One of my favourite garden birds… that I have to look for elsewhere as our little garden is over run by neighbourhood cats!

::: A new scripture print went up for autumn too – probably my favourite verse, Jeremiah 29v11.

::: I even managed a little crochet, a chunky green cowl for myself in King Cole Gypsy.

::: Also a little slouchy pompom hat for Emma, made using a double strand of Stylecraft Special DK. <3

Yay for happy, cosy, autumn days!

Ok, I think I’m about ready to embrace Christmas now! I’m off to crochet some little things for a christmas fair at our church this weekend 🙂 I’ll try and share them later this week!

Have a wonderful first week of advent!
