Christmas Pyjamas

24 December 2013 by Naomi 1 Comment

Oh dear there has been a bit of a gap in my posting again…

This week has just whizzed by in a blur of visits and visitors, post-birthday celebrations, pre-christmas preparations and all sorts of creative business!

Still, I may not have posted every day as I intended but I have been posting more regularly than in recent months. That’s still an achievement in my books!

Part of the last week has been spent on making up some christmas PJs for us all.

Apologies for the phone snaps, hopefully I’ll take some proper photos later!

I made a full set for Emma but actually just the PJ trousers for Vince and I, mainly to keep the cost of fabric reasonable!

Emma and I have matching Riley Blake cotton flannel PJs in ‘Santa’s Workshop’.

Vince’s are in a flannel printed with Dr Seuss’s ‘The Grinch’ all over. I feel the need to point out that he chose the fabric for himself!

Although there are a few little things I would change if I made them again, I am extremely happy with how they have turned out!

The plan is to have our dinner very shortly, then have showers and give Emma her bath and get cosy in our new Christmas pyjamas. We will spend our early Christmas Eve evening snuggled on the sofa together watching Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

After Emma’s gone to bed Vince and I will put It’s A Wonderful Life on and finish wrapping Emma’s presents! LOL!

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas Eve evening to me!

I hope you all have a lovely evening too!

Hmmm… Well I missed yesterday didn’t I…

But then its day 7 and 4 out of 7 is pretty good… for me! Lol!

This morning I finally got started on one of Emma’s christmas presents. A pair christmas pyjamas! I’m making a full set for her, a pair of bottoms for me in the same material and a different pair of bottoms for Vince. The plan is to start a new tradition for our little family of new hand sewn pjs to snuggle up in on christmas eve!

After fearing I was never actually going to get going(!) I started and finished Emma’s bottoms this afternoon. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to do tomorrow as we’ll be at church in the morning and Vince works the afternoon, which leaves very few Emma free hours for sewing, but I hope to have Emma’s set finished by Tuesday.

I am loving the way the trousers have turned out though. It’s the first pattern I’ve drawn out myself and this is only the second time I’ve tried it and I’m so proud of myself! Although the top is making me nervous… sleeves are not my friends.

crochet granny stripes

This evening I have settled on the sofa with some Saturday night tv and spent a little time browsing online. Vince has just got home so now we will have a drink and a catchup while I do a little easy crochet. I’m working up a long length of granny stripes in very cheap and cheerful acrylic from my stash, it will eventually become a draught excluder.

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!
