In the clouds…

29 March 2015 by Naomi Leave a Comment

Oh dear, has it really been 3 weeks since I last posted!?

I can not tell you what I’ve been doing that has kept me so busy – I don’t know! Other than growing a baby of course 😉

Only 4 weeks till our due date now and goodness I am tired and uncomfortable, I’m quite keen for a slightly earlier arrival it has to be said. One thing is for sure though, whether you believe ‘baby brain’ is a genuine thing or not I do feel like my head is in the clouds these days, my concentration and ability to think clearly and quickly is pretty shot!

Matthew's-Corner

I’ve also been in the clouds with my little bunting project too, you might remember I mentioned it in this post. I finally finished it and have it hung over baby boy’s crib in our room. I feel much more prepared for his arrival now I know he has his own little cosy corner to come home too… while my hospital bag remains only partially packed, daft really!

bunting-and-canvas

I thoroughly enjoyed making this, there really is something so therapeutic about hand stitching with felt, so simple and so easy. I really want to make a felt quiet book for baby boy like the one I made for Emma (see it here!) but it was quite time consuming so I will see how much time I have on my hands in a few months!

hab-bunting

At some point soon(ish) I want to crochet a couple of 3d hot air balloons to go with the bunting when it is moved into the childrens bedroom in 6 months or so… Ooohh I just had this vision of a big crocheted hot air balloon cushion. So love that idea!

Have to point out the canvas, in case you missed it! Isn’t it lovely! The lovely ladies from our church held a baby shower for me a few weeks ago and gifted it to me. It is baby boy’s church family tree, throughout the party each of the women added their thumb print to it. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful church family.
The scripture reads – ‘How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.’ Psalm 119v9

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and wish you all the best things for the week ahead!

happy homemaker monday – 23/06/14

23 June 2014 by Naomi 2 Comments

Good Morning!

It has been ages since I last did one of these posts and linked up with Sandra! But this morning I am feeling the need to get various thoughts and lists out of my head – and as they are mainly all of a homemaking theme this seemed the obvious place to share… I am sure you are all barely containing your excitement to see what I have lined up for the week ahead! HA! 🙂

As I look outside my window::

It is bright blue skies and sunshine out there today. I haven’t checked the forecast this morning but I should think it will be in the lower 20s today. Wonderful, especially as Wimbledon starts this afternoon! It is the only sporting event I have any interest in at all 🙂

Right now I am::

Sitting on the sofa typing up this post and drinking my second cup of tea.

Thinking and pondering::

Whether or not I will ever coax Emma into some clothes today, that I need to go and prep Vince’s lunch so he can take it with him to work shortly, that I need to go and hang the laundry out.

On my bedside table::

My Bible and phone charger.

On my TV this week::

Wimbledon…. and undoubtedly kids programmes at various points.

Listening to::

Hillsong United & Bethel Music when I’m in the kitchen.

On the menu this week::

Monday – Spaghetti Bolognese, Salad
Tuesday – Pork & Pineapple Curry, Couscous, Salad
Wednesday – Tuna Pasta Salad
Thursday – Loaded Lasagne
Friday – Leftovers / Clean the fridge out night
Saturday – *Grocery delivery*
Sunday – ??

On my to do list today::

Hang laundry out
Wash another load
Sort out and tidy the dining room (aka. this weeks dumping ground)
Quiet Time
Usual daily chores
Some sort of Tennis themed activity with Emma (lol!)

Happening this week::

Today – Vince is on a long day (13hrs)
Tuesday – we have friends visiting and staying for dinner
Wednesday – Emma has a little friend coming to play in the morning, we have our last Christianity Explored meeting in the evening
Thursday – Mums Bible Study Group in the morning, in the evening some ladies from church and I are finally starting a crochet/knitting group! – Ridiculously pleased about this!
Friday – Sleep?? HA!
Saturday – Vince is having a breakfast man-date with a friend, so us wives will have our own breakfast date with our little girls 🙂

What I am creating::

Ugh. I’ve done it agin. I have too many things on the go and nothing is getting finished. Crochet – I have started a cushion cover, a Totoro toy for Emma, and my poor poor neglected mood blanket. Sewing – A set of quilted placemats that need finishing off. I am trying to fight off the urge to start around 3 other projects until I have finished at least one of those… I think I may have a problem…

My simple pleasure::

Crochet…. always lol.

Looking around the house::

I need to clean my hob… yikes. The front room could do with a little picking up but nothing too terrible. Oh and Emma is still is not dressed… Oh and I need to go water my geraniums 🙂

From the camera::

Bible verse, Devotional::

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. Psalm 127:3-5 NIV

September No-Low Spend Challenge!

1 September 2013 by Naomi 3 Comments

July and August were really good months for us as a family. Vince had booked lots of holiday from work which meant we were able to do lots of fun things together and make the most of our summer.

However, they have also been really expensive months for us when there wasn’t really much extra money to be had. Ooops!

So I have decided to join up with Carla from My Half Dozen Daily for her No-Low Spend Challenge this month. It couldn’t be better timing for us!
