Big News! (& an explanation)

13 October 2014 by Naomi 10 Comments

Guess what!?!

PregnancyAnnouncement

We are so excited to announce that we are expecting a new little addition to our family! It is a huge blessing that has truly been prayed for and I am so thankful for this new little life. We will be 12 weeks along this week and are expecting to welcome Baby Wade #2 at the very end of April (or quite possibly early May) next year. We will be finding out the gender this time so you may expect a ‘Pink or Blue’ reveal some time near christmas!

By way of an explanation as to why I have hardly been around this last 5 or 6 weeks (and why huge technical problems went by undealt with… sorry!)…. well that was more or less it. Ha!
As utterly over-the-moon I am to at last be pregnant again, the truth is, sometimes pregnancy sucks.
There I said it.
Sometimes it is overwhelmingly hard, completely takes over your life and ability to function as a mother/wife/human being and you spend hours at a time wondering if you will ever feel vaguely normal again.

So in the past 5 weeks I have had numerous doctor appointments, midwife appointments, ultrasound scans thanks to a diagnosis of hyperemisis gravidarum, and an admission to hospital to be put on a drip for severe dehydration.
In the words of Miranda Hart, such fun!

It has been a long month and at times I have struggled to cope and probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for my faith in the Lord and my truly incredible family and friends. All that said I know I haven’t suffered half as much as some women do and I know that no matter what has been or may yet come my way in this pregnancy in around 29 weeks time it will all have been completely worthwhile.

As for right now, I am still taking anti-sickness medication but I am most days feeling much better and more like my usual self and our baby is healthy and as I saw this afternoon wriggling around in there with a wonderful sounding heartbeat. Even better we get to see baby again next week as well… so there are some perks to things not always running smoothly!

So I am back to mothering, crocheting, cooking and all the other things I enjoy but couldn’t face for the last few weeks and hopefully you will see a lot more of me around here again!

Saturday Summary

6 September 2014 by Naomi Leave a Comment

Hello lovelies, I haven’t been around too much lately have I?

I just haven’t had quite as much time on my hands recently and as usual my poor blog is the first thing to slide (*ahem* if you don’t count certain aspects of housework!). So I just thought I would stop by to share a little of what we have been doing this last week.
Hastings Miniature Railway, Cliffs and Boats::: The weather has been decidedly more autumnal the last few weeks, but on Wednesday we woke up to gorgeous clear blue skies and sunshine. It was decided this shouldn’t be wasted so we headed into town and treated Emma to an ice cream and a trip on the miniature railway along the seafront. Most lovely.

Pirate Miniature Golf Course::: The same outing also involved Emma’s first go at miniature golf. We chose the pirate themed course and lots of laughs were had. Emma was much better behaved than I had dared to hope and only ran into another couples game once, and they were very nice about it! She also decided early on that it is clearly much easier to throw/roll/place the ball in the hole over hitting it… I was inclined to agree….!

Friends swinging together at the park::: On Thursday we took a trip to a lovely little village park with friends. It is always a highlight of my day to see Emma having so much fun with other children. It also usually means I can have some grown up conversation!!

painting shells::: We have of course had plenty of time spent at home doing all sorts of things. The most frequently requested being play-doh and painting. The above is Emma very happily painting shells she has collected, in her pyjamas… because that is how we flow. We also had a very lovely play-doh play date at our house this week but I somehow managed not to take a single photo.

Playing pretend - Pirates & Robots::: Potentially my favourite thing in the last week though is how much Emma’s imagination, specifically for role play, has developed. She loves pirates and has had that hat for a while but this week she really became that little pirate and needed an eyepatch to go with it (which I very quickly crocheted for her as she played!) She also adorned an empty cardboard box and declared herself a robot, doing a very good impression of one that I do not know the origins of. I did offer to cut some holes so she could see, thinking we could decorate it it to be more robot-like, this was met with an absolute refusal however! Playing doctor has also been a favourite this week, it turns out the tape measure I use for sewing makes an excellent stethoscope. 🙂

This is a very child-centered post isn’t it! But then most of my days are… and I wouldn’t change it for a minute. In fact we intend to live pretty child-centered lives over the next few years. But that is not to say I don’t have any time to myself at all and there has of course been plenty of crochet in between all of these moments. I will get around to sharing some of it with you soon!

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Ours has started very well and as it is my birthday tomorrow I am hopeful that it will only get better! 😉

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Naomi

blackberry fun

14 August 2014 by Naomi 2 Comments

blackberry-landscapeJust in case I haven’t mentioned it before, I love where we live. I love that this view is a 5 minute walk from my house in one direction, and 5 minutes in the opposite direction we have a gorgeous sea view.

Both country & coast. I love it. We are so blessed to have found ourselves settling here.

Yesterday we headed to this little clearing just down the road because it is simply overflowing with blackberries at the moment. Also we had some unexpected sunshine that coincided with a little play date we had arranged.

I remember loving blackberry picking as a child so I was hopeful my little Miss and her friends would enjoy it too. We had a very quick lesson on what was ready for picking and what was not… and they were off!

They did brilliantly, for only being 2 and 4 years old I was so impressed. Very clever girls! Naturally around 50% of what was picked went straight into little tummies instead of their boxes, but who can blame them!

After we had picked (eaten) enough it was time to play. This involved making use of the little woodland area in the best way we could… a Gruffalo hunt of course! With it being one of Emma’s favourite books, between Vince and myself we can recite the entire story from memory. So off we went for a walk… through the deep, dark woods….

The girls (and Vince) took it in turns to be the gruffalo and much growling, running, shrieking and laughing ensued… and fun was had by all!

This was followed by games of hide & seek, rolling down the hill (still including Vince, I didn’t think he was going to stop before the brambles!) and a little more berry picking. I am so glad I have such a fun husband!

Then it was time for a little sit down and little more blackberry eating before heading home again.
