New Year Fun – 2013 Edition

31 December 2013 by Naomi 2 Comments

I saw that Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom is having a new year fun round up and I thought it a good way of summarising the last year so I’m joining up here!

It means taking the first line of the first blog post for each month and a photo for the month 🙂 So here is Lovely Little Life’s 2013!

***

JANUARY

Happy New Year!  Did you all enjoy your new year celebrations?

FEBRUARY

I have some news! Over the last few months I’ve been receiving a number of emails from you lovely readers asking whether or not you can buy my crochet baby sandals or Stripey Owl rattles and until recently I have declined for various reasons.

MARCH

Oh my. It has been a while since I’ve posted hasn’t it!

APRIL

Happy Monday! I made it! Just! Haha another busy day!

MAY

…We have had mystery illnesses (Emma), knock-you-out migraines (me), random rashes (Emma again) and a heroic husband/daddy taking care of us all (Vince, of course).

JUNE

At some point I will get into the habit of blogging regularly….. I am getting so terrible at sitting down to write up posts and yet there are so many things I’ve been meaning to show you!

JULY

It would seem I have lost my voice recently. That is to say, I have been struggling to find my blogging voice.

AUGUST

Have a blessed Sunday!

SEPTEMBER

July and August were really good months for us as a family. Vince had booked lots of holiday from work which meant we were able to do lots of fun things together and make the most of our summer.

OCTOBER

Hello lovelies. Today we finally got out to the woods for a walk.

NOVEMBER

Hello, remember me?! I can’t believe it’s been a whole month since I last posted!

DECEMBER

Goodness, how did that happen?! Life just seems to be whistling by at the moment! It is the first day of advent already!

Well there we are, a snapshot of 2013 through this blog… I definitely see a theme that I’m working on changing….

Overall a very happy year and I’m looking forward our next!

Happy New Year everyone!

a simple happy holiday

29 December 2013 by Naomi 1 Comment

This year was our first christmas at home as just our little family of 3 and it was just wonderful. We have spent the last few happy days visiting with family who live a bit further afield and now Vince has returned to work. So I thought I would share a few photos snapped over Christmas…

me & emma xmas eve::: Christmas pyjamas on Christmas Eve!

christmas morning::: The tree on christmas day morning!

christmas dinner::: Our simple christmas dinner (there is a roast duck hidden on that plate somewhere!!!)

toy takeover::: The dining room being slowly taken over by my little girls new toys! (Christmas and birthday!)

IMG_20131228_220803::: Enough relaxing down time to finish off my random granny stripe draught excluder 🙂

Very simple, very cosy, extremely happy…. not enough photos of the hubby!!!

I hope you all had a very happy holiday too!

feeling festive

5 December 2013 by Naomi 4 Comments

We ended up staying an extra night at my brothers last night as I was too tired to drive all the way home (we live about 90 minutes away).
When we arrived home this morning I had somehow kind of forgotten that we had put up some of our christmas decorations. It was a very welcome little surprise that made me smile a got me feeling festive!

As Vince was back at work this afternoon and the weather was turning, Emma and I snuggled up on the sofa with TinkerBell on the telly and a big blanket on our laps. It was a cosy, easy afternoon with no rushing about and I was still feeling festive by the time she went to bed, (despite the standard dinner time dramas), so I snapped a few photos of our tree and decs this evening to share with you. We still have a few more put up but they will wait until after Emma’s birthday in just over a week. (Please excuse the poor lighting in the photos!)

candy caneI’ve been trying to use as many handmade decorations as I can as I don’t believe that christmas decorations should cost the earth, and they look nicer and mean more I think. This includes little hand stitched felt stockings and crochet candy canes & mini wreaths. Emma’s advent calendar is also hand sewn, I made it after some pinterest inspiration last year. I still love it and I think Emma does too, even better no chocolate to be found!

advent calendarWell my dear hubby has come home from work and it has just gone midnight so I should really be off to bed. We have a day of christmas/birthday shopping tomorrow! Here’s hoping we stick to our budget!

P.S. I hope everyone in the UK is staying safe through the storms and flooding tonight, take care!
