In the clouds…

29 March 2015 by Naomi Leave a Comment

Oh dear, has it really been 3 weeks since I last posted!?

I can not tell you what I’ve been doing that has kept me so busy – I don’t know! Other than growing a baby of course 😉

Only 4 weeks till our due date now and goodness I am tired and uncomfortable, I’m quite keen for a slightly earlier arrival it has to be said. One thing is for sure though, whether you believe ‘baby brain’ is a genuine thing or not I do feel like my head is in the clouds these days, my concentration and ability to think clearly and quickly is pretty shot!

Matthew's-Corner

I’ve also been in the clouds with my little bunting project too, you might remember I mentioned it in this post. I finally finished it and have it hung over baby boy’s crib in our room. I feel much more prepared for his arrival now I know he has his own little cosy corner to come home too… while my hospital bag remains only partially packed, daft really!

bunting-and-canvas

I thoroughly enjoyed making this, there really is something so therapeutic about hand stitching with felt, so simple and so easy. I really want to make a felt quiet book for baby boy like the one I made for Emma (see it here!) but it was quite time consuming so I will see how much time I have on my hands in a few months!

hab-bunting

At some point soon(ish) I want to crochet a couple of 3d hot air balloons to go with the bunting when it is moved into the childrens bedroom in 6 months or so… Ooohh I just had this vision of a big crocheted hot air balloon cushion. So love that idea!

church-family-tree

Have to point out the canvas, in case you missed it! Isn’t it lovely! The lovely ladies from our church held a baby shower for me a few weeks ago and gifted it to me. It is baby boy’s church family tree, throughout the party each of the women added their thumb print to it. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful church family.
The scripture reads – ‘How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.’ Psalm 119v9

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and wish you all the best things for the week ahead!

6 Random Things

1 May 2014 by Naomi 5 Comments

It has been one of those weeks where I feel like we haven’t really been doing much of anything and yet at the same time I’ve felt ridiculously busy.

I feel like my brain has been preoccupied for days with odd and ends and random things. So I thought I’d share a few here in an attempt to empty them out of my head!

1)

morrisonsmum

I have been selected to be a #MorrisonsMum for this coming bank holiday weekend! YAY! I was a little bit too ridiculously excited when a letter came with £80 to spend at Morrisons this weekend. I mean YAY! I can’t even tell you how much happier our weekly budget looks now! I will be posting all about this next week at some point so keep your eyes peeled 🙂

2)

courgette pasta

Tuesday night I made us a meal for dinner that had been on my ‘can’t wait to try’ list for a few weeks. It was a raw courgette spaghetti dish from a Paleo magazine I had bought a while back – in fact it was the front cover dish. We have had successful courgette ‘pasta’ in the past so I was really looking forward to what looked and sounded to be great – on paper. Actually it looked pretty great in real life too – courgette, tomatoes, avocado, poppy seeds – awesome. The thai style dressing however… well lets just say it was a miss… a total miss. Vince and I ate what we could before giving it up and making emergency tuna melts :/ The disappointment was real my lovelies.

3)

crochet dress monpetitviolonI came across this little drss and tutorial on pinterest (of course!) and am totally besotted with it. There is definitely one of these in Emma’s future…. as soon as I can get through my other WIPs… or not! The original image and tutorial can be found here.

4)

twin sandals

I made these gorgeous little sandals for a lovely lady in Chicago last week. I went through a phase of making so many of these they became a little tedious so I took a break from commission work for a while. When I decided to make these pairs I fell straight back in love with them… there is actually something very therapeutic about working something you know so well 🙂

5)

IMG_20140501_155018Last night Vince and I started a course run by our church. I am excited for it as a Christian to be able to really examine the life of Jesus Christ as an adult. More than this I am truly excited that Vince wants to explore my faith and have his own questions answered.

6)

emma chairs

This is what my ninja child gets up to when I go into the kitchen for 2 minutes. In genuine silence takes the most non-grip chair we have, stacks it onto the slipperiest chair we have and climbs on top… just because she can. Heart failure doesn’t cut it! (I told her to sit very still before taking a very quick picture then immediately lifted her down – just thought I’d clarify as Vince wasn’t initially too impressed that I stopped to take a photo! Ooops!)

BONUS:::  My facebook page has nearly 500 ‘likes’! So I thought when it reaches 500 I’ll hold a little giveaway over there for a pair of flower power sandals or a crochet bow tie (winner’s choice!). If you are interested please pop over and Like & Share the page! 🙂

I hope you all enjoy the upcoming bank holiday weekend!

my favourite sunday

2 March 2014 by Naomi 1 Comment

I have had such a wonderful day, full of love and laughter, a perfectly relaxed, family oriented Sunday.

These are a few moments I captured through out the day 🙂

Perfect Sunday 3::: After a breakfast treat of pain au chocolat, we all headed to church this morning. Emma was on her best behaviour and Vince even took her up to the children’s talk for the first time.

Perfect Sunday 2::: We came home in time to take this beautiful brisket out of the oven, which had been slow cooking all morning. There is nothing better than coming back to a house that smells of something yummy cooking!

Perfect Sunday 4::: The brisket became the centrepiece of  a great roast dinner, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Emma even ate some vegetables voluntarily!!!

Perfect Sunday 1::: A little post-dinner/pre-nap afternoon reading time. Love our little bookworm <3

Perfect Sunday::: Early evening cuddles watching The AristoCats (although daddy was snoozing!)

Perfect Sunday 5::: Emma has gone to bed, I am having a second helping of dessert (peach cobbler & custard) and settling in with some crochet and films with my hubby. Oh and writing this post of course!

If only Vince had every Sunday at home! I hope you have all had a lovely day too 🙂
