Things We Do

A Joules Clothing Review

26 May 2014 by Naomi 2 Comments

Truthfully, I was not familiar with this brand at all when I was contacted about writing a review on girls clothing pieces from Joules. So I did quite a bit of research and asking around before deciding to accept…

I knew I would love Joules when I first visited their About Page, they are all about colourful country clothing with personality, and as they say ‘established in the fields of Great Britain’!

As it turns out most of my family knew of them, my sister-in-law buys her wellies from them, and I’ve been living with my head in a hole??!

The item I chose to review was a red gingham midi skirt for Emma. I got it in the 3 years size which is a little big but it means she can get more wear out of it! It also means it is a longer skirt on her than a ‘midi’ might normally be.

The skirt itself is gorgeous (I want one in my size!), it is 100% cotton and the fabric is such good quality. The skirt is fully lined and I was thrilled to find that it buttons properly down the centre of the skirt, they are functional as well as a pretty detail!

joules hareIt also features two large patch pockets and one of them carries the pretty little embroidered logo of Joules.

It has so much movement and is the perfect skirt for picnics in parks and playing on the grass all spring and summer long. But with a pair of tights and boots it will be warm enough for when autumn arrives too!

Disclaimer: I was provided with this skirt for free for the purpose of this review but all thoughts, feelings and opinions expressed are my own.

Bank Holiday Fun!

10 May 2014 by Naomi Leave a Comment

I thought I would share a few photos from last weekend and the things we actually got up to during the bank holiday!

Emma and I had the opportunity on Saturday to spend some time with one of Vince’s cousins and her family who were camping locally. We do not have the opportunity to see each other very often, but when we do our little girls are always very pleased to see each other and play together so nicely, it is a joy to watch!

On Sunday Vince had an unexpected day off work, so we spent a lovely morning at our church and then a lazy family afternoon at home… Bliss!

Monday saw our town turn into absolute mania. On the May bank holiday this year over 30,000 motorcyclists descend on our seafront and the old town celebrates Jack in the Green – an old festival based around the green man (above).

We were visited by my mum and her partner and we took a picnic up to the green to watch the parade. It was good fun with lots of morris dancers and drum groups which Emma thoroughly enjoyed watching, she was quite upset when we reached the end of the parade!

After we had eaten we took a stroll around the packed west hill green and unashamedly took a good look at all the people dressed for the occasion!

People really go all out for the day! It was an interesting and fun few hours out but then truthfully it was just too busy for my little one who was already starting to flag so we headed back home. But being the homebody that I am I was’t too upset!

All in all I found it a very enjoyable bank holiday weekend, the only shame being my lovely husband having to work through so much of it. But I could never be ungrateful that he is able to work as hard as he does for us <3

Well I’ll be back later lovelies! Hopefully with a crochet pattern for a little flower garland! 🙂

P.S. I’m having a giveaway on my facebook page for reaching 500+ likes! Head over and check it out!

‘Pooh Country’

22 April 2014 by Naomi 4 Comments

Hello lovelies!

I trust that you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! We enjoyed ours, it was low key, peaceful and joyful!

I actually want to share some photos with you today from before Easter.

Last Wednesday we celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary 🙂 As it’s not always easy for Vince and I to arrange 1-1 time together we planned on having a family day out.

Emma is currently in the midst of a deep passion for all things Winnie the Pooh so we decided to visit ‘Pooh Country’! (And if we’re being honest Vince and I are fans of the little bear and his friends too!)

‘Pooh Country’ means Hartfield in East Sussex, the place where A.A. Milne wrote his stories and the surrounding countryside that inspired various ‘Pooh Places’.

We started out our day at Pooh Corner, which I completely neglected to take a picture of 🙁 but do check out their website! It’s a lovely old house that is packed to the rafters (NOT an exaggeration!) with Winnie the pooh related goodness.

After a quick look around we picked up a map and set out on our ‘expotition’ to find Pooh Bridge.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous. We literally couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for a walk.

We stopped for a picnic in a meadow field and I could have stayed forever just drinking in the landscape.

I love living by the sea but this sort of country view will always be my favourite, especially in the spring.

Happily we stumbled on some bluebells which I thought I would miss this year, not having any bluebell woods easily accessible to us without a car.

Someone was also very excited to stumble upon ‘Piglits House’! Sadly he wasn’t home when she knocked!

By the time we had walked back to Pooh Corner Emma was finally worn out (after walking the best part of 4 miles, my little star!) and was sound asleep in the pushchair. So Vince and I enjoyed a quiet and delicious cream tea – with honey of course!

It was such a lovely day and the perfect way to celebrate being married for 3 years to best man I know. A blessed day together as a family, a family that couldn’t possibly be without that lovely man of mine <3

I love you Mr Wade, and I thank God each day that I am blessed to be your wife.
