Things We Do

New Year Blog Post Round-Up 2014

31 December 2014 by Naomi 2 Comments

Last year I did a summary of posts and photos throughout the year and I thought I would do another to close this year 🙂

It means taking the first few lines of the first blog post for each month and a photo for the month:) So here is Lovely Little Life’s 2014!

JANUARY

This year I am not making new year resolutions as such… I have found that ‘New Year Resolutions’ tend to have a kind of stigma of being unattainable or quickly forgotten about or otherwise broken long before the years end.

FEBRUARY

Well, we are pretty much one week into February (already?!) and thankfully I think we are all feeling much better for it in our neck of the woods.

MARCH

I can’t believe that it is the 1st of March already!

Happily, February did end on a good week for us and today was apparently the first day of Spring in the meteorological calendar. That is some very welcome news!

APRIL

Wasn’t Tuesday just gorgeous in the south east? We popped into town for a few errands and found ourselves whiling away the hours on the seafront. Bliss.

MAY

It has been one of those weeks where I feel like we haven’t really been doing much of anything and yet at the same time I’ve felt ridiculously busy.

JUNE

A little while ago I came across a tutorial for a little dress with a crochet yoke on Mon Petit Violon. I finally got around to making a similar dress for Emma!

I used the original dress idea as inspiration but tweaked it here and there to suit and fit Emma.

JULY

Happy Monday! :)

I’m back again to link up with Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. As I have managed to go a week without blogging again… One of these days I’ll get myself organised into a good routine of posting!

AUGUST

Happy moments… quite often involve hooky time for me and not as often as I would like include home making.

SEPTEMBER

Hello lovelies, I haven’t been around too much lately have I?

I just haven’t had quite as much time on my hands recently and as usual my poor blog is the first thing to slide (*ahem* if you don’t count certain aspects of housework!).

OCTOBER

We are so excited to announce that we are expecting a new little addition to our family! It is a huge blessing that has truly been prayed for and I am so thankful for this new little life.

NOVEMBER

Goodness, where is this year disappearing off to?! A fortnight ago I shared our wonderful news and explained why hadn’t been around so much, but also declared I was getting back to normal and should be around a bit more….

DECEMBER

So today is apparently the official first day of winter… and the start of Christmas judging by the number of fully decorated trees and houses in my social media feeds!

I have to say pulling this together was great fun, I don’t spend enough time going back to look at past blog posts and it is so lovely to remember and see all the wonderful memories we have made together over the last year. I was seriously considering whether I was going to keep this blog going next year but this little exercise has renewed some of my passion for it!

2015 is going to be an exciting year in our Lovely Little Life, some big adventures to embark on and of course the biggest adventure coming our way in April. I can’t wait!

Happy New Year lovely readers! Wishing you all the best things for coming year!

This week…

8 November 2014 by Naomi 3 Comments

… has been sooo much better! I mean really I can hardly begin to say how much better this week has been… for all of us I hope!

So here some highlights of our first week in November 🙂 (Week 15 of pregnancy if you’re counting 😉 )

(I’m afraid once again these are all phone camera snaps… it’s just easier at the moment!)

We took an early evening trip out at the beginning of the week to Bedgebury Pinetum, it was so peaceful and beautiful. It was also so we could take a stroll through the deep, dark wood…

wpid-imag0610.jpg…and look what we found! Emma was so excited… convincing her to say goodbye was an interesting manoeuvre! (If you have no idea who the above character is, you must check out this book!)

We explored local places that we had still never been too. This is our local museum & art gallery, it is small but an interesting visit full of all sorts of things and even Emma loved it. Admittedly this was largely helped by the little dinosaur exhibit as she is having a bit of a dino phase?!

We have also had shopping trips out to Ashford, got ourselves organised financially ready for December, enjoyed the restart of my bible study group after the half term, finally started reading a new book, and despite starting yesterday with an absolute horror of a headache it ended with our yarn lovers group meeting at our house which was always guaranteed to perk me up!!!

Today has been a quieter day but we have succeeded in getting out of the house as that has been the theme of the week – not being house-bound! Emma and I decided to take a walk and braved the elements to head to the park… Honestly our local play park should be entered for some sort of award for being the UK’s most windswept, I am sure it would win.

wpid-img-20141108-wa0000.jpegYou wouldn’t believe how hard those gulls were trying to fly off and getting absolutely nowhere. Also that little 2 year old up there is super cute (most of the time!) and will be 3 in less than six weeks. How can that possibly be right?!

Dear readers, I hope you have been able to find the positives in your week too! Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙂

Saturday Summary

6 September 2014 by Naomi Leave a Comment

Hello lovelies, I haven’t been around too much lately have I?

I just haven’t had quite as much time on my hands recently and as usual my poor blog is the first thing to slide (*ahem* if you don’t count certain aspects of housework!). So I just thought I would stop by to share a little of what we have been doing this last week.
Hastings Miniature Railway, Cliffs and Boats::: The weather has been decidedly more autumnal the last few weeks, but on Wednesday we woke up to gorgeous clear blue skies and sunshine. It was decided this shouldn’t be wasted so we headed into town and treated Emma to an ice cream and a trip on the miniature railway along the seafront. Most lovely.

Pirate Miniature Golf Course::: The same outing also involved Emma’s first go at miniature golf. We chose the pirate themed course and lots of laughs were had. Emma was much better behaved than I had dared to hope and only ran into another couples game once, and they were very nice about it! She also decided early on that it is clearly much easier to throw/roll/place the ball in the hole over hitting it… I was inclined to agree….!

Friends swinging together at the park::: On Thursday we took a trip to a lovely little village park with friends. It is always a highlight of my day to see Emma having so much fun with other children. It also usually means I can have some grown up conversation!!

painting shells::: We have of course had plenty of time spent at home doing all sorts of things. The most frequently requested being play-doh and painting. The above is Emma very happily painting shells she has collected, in her pyjamas… because that is how we flow. We also had a very lovely play-doh play date at our house this week but I somehow managed not to take a single photo.

Playing pretend - Pirates & Robots::: Potentially my favourite thing in the last week though is how much Emma’s imagination, specifically for role play, has developed. She loves pirates and has had that hat for a while but this week she really became that little pirate and needed an eyepatch to go with it (which I very quickly crocheted for her as she played!) She also adorned an empty cardboard box and declared herself a robot, doing a very good impression of one that I do not know the origins of. I did offer to cut some holes so she could see, thinking we could decorate it it to be more robot-like, this was met with an absolute refusal however! Playing doctor has also been a favourite this week, it turns out the tape measure I use for sewing makes an excellent stethoscope. 🙂

This is a very child-centered post isn’t it! But then most of my days are… and I wouldn’t change it for a minute. In fact we intend to live pretty child-centered lives over the next few years. But that is not to say I don’t have any time to myself at all and there has of course been plenty of crochet in between all of these moments. I will get around to sharing some of it with you soon!

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Ours has started very well and as it is my birthday tomorrow I am hopeful that it will only get better! 😉

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Naomi
