I think I must be in that phase of pregnancy where nesting begins. I had really hoped I would ‘nest’ in a wonderfully practical way – an uncontrollable desire to clean the house from top to bottom would be pretty helpful – but no such luck.
My creative/crafty streak is in full swing however. I have more baby boy related projects in mind or on the go than I can feasibly ever hope to complete. I sort of love it.
I have started some hand stitched felt bunting for above the crib in our bedroom. We have a white crib, against a white wall and it is in need of some colour! It will be hot air balloons among clouds and I am really pleased with how it is coming along. (Please excuse the late night instagram progress photo with terrible lighting!)
But I have come to a temporary halt on this project this last week. I was overcome with an idea I had for a teddy bear. A crochet teddy for baby boy of course! One of those ideas that is all consuming and nothing else can move forward until it has been freed from my minds eye and made reality.
I can not remember the last time I was able to crochet so freely. I knew exactly what I wanted and it all just came together so simply and quickly. I haven’t really designed anything in such a long time but I have loved this little bears process.
So I’m thrilled to introduce you to Bertie Bear, designed for my little boy on the way, and his sister Beatrix Bear, made for the big sister to be. Even better I will be sharing the written pattern with you here in the next few days, as soon as the typing is done!
I’m off to finally carry on with my felt bunting and to not think about the baby blanket I am slightly desperate to get crocheting… Or the button initial for above baby boys cot to coordinate with Emma’s… Or the fabric that is asking to be sewn into a changing bag… Or the cushion cover I’d like to add to Emma’s new bed… Or… well you get the idea!!!!
Back soon with a pattern for Bertie & Beatrix!
Can’t wait for the pattern!! xx
