We ended up staying an extra night at my brothers last night as I was too tired to drive all the way home (we live about 90 minutes away).
When we arrived home this morning I had somehow kind of forgotten that we had put up some of our christmas decorations. It was a very welcome little surprise that made me smile a got me feeling festive!
As Vince was back at work this afternoon and the weather was turning, Emma and I snuggled up on the sofa with TinkerBell on the telly and a big blanket on our laps. It was a cosy, easy afternoon with no rushing about and I was still feeling festive by the time she went to bed, (despite the standard dinner time dramas), so I snapped a few photos of our tree and decs this evening to share with you. We still have a few more put up but they will wait until after Emma’s birthday in just over a week. (Please excuse the poor lighting in the photos!)
I’ve been trying to use as many handmade decorations as I can as I don’t believe that christmas decorations should cost the earth, and they look nicer and mean more I think. This includes little hand stitched felt stockings and crochet candy canes & mini wreaths. Emma’s advent calendar is also hand sewn, I made it after some pinterest inspiration last year. I still love it and I think Emma does too, even better no chocolate to be found!
Well my dear hubby has come home from work and it has just gone midnight so I should really be off to bed. We have a day of christmas/birthday shopping tomorrow! Here’s hoping we stick to our budget!
P.S. I hope everyone in the UK is staying safe through the storms and flooding tonight, take care!
When we were little my mom made us stockings that either had a elf on it or a Santa. They were so cute! I love that you also make homemade decorations!
Love your decorations, everything looks so festive 🙂
It’s also eco friendly to homemake the decorations. Your decorations look AWESOME! Is the candy cane on the tree crochet? If it is I’d love a pattern/tutorial! Merry Christmas!
Hi Virginia 🙂
It is a crochet candy cane that I made last year. I tweaked a pattern that I can’t actually find now! However, this one looks fairly similar and possibly better than the way I did it! http://mygurumi.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/december-4th.html
Merry Christmas!
