I am still loving that autumn has arrived. It is my favourite season….. until Spring when I’ll change my mind again!
We are soaking it up as much as possible and I am celebrating it being here in the little ways I can. This means lots of walking through woods and parks admiring the wildlife and changing colours of nature.
Especially the intense REDS. I can’t get enough of these leaves.
There are a couple of trees nearby that will soon be a similar beautiful shade and I am not so patiently waiting for them to turn.
Inspired by the season and with the urge to sew (as mentioned here) I whipped up and winged my way through a little runner/mat for our mantelpiece. I try to keep our mantelpiece decorated according to the time of year, I’m still building up our autumn decor and thought this might go quite nicely.
I love it. It is my first attempt at anything like it and I achieved a pretty good chevron which was the aim. It is far far from perfect, particularly where I puckered the edges when topstitching. Though, in my defence, it was about half past midnight when I had the urge to do this LOL.
Even so I love love love it 🙂
I’m such a happy crafter. Some days I want to do or make so many different things I struggle to really get on with anything, but most of the time I can sit down with some sort of project and it becomes my perfect outlet. It is the ideal distraction/release/escape from the world for a few minutes of each day that keeps me sane and as positive as possible, no matter what might be happening in the other areas of my life.
Do you have anything you do for yourself? Something that helps to keep you relaxed and balanced?
I think it came out beautifully 🙂 I often am like you, I want to make so many things and then get overwhelmed with all the projects I have in mind LOL
Have a wonderful weekend 🙂
Such a beautiful photo of you and dd! 🙂 Looks like a wonderful day! I love your runner! it turned out lovely, and the little creases, meh, it’s what makes it unique & special! Well done on the chevron! 🙂
The pictures on this post are very pretty. The fall pics., Emma and you, the runner; all beautiful. Life gets so stressful at times. That’s when I pick up my crochet hook, or attempt to knit, or if I’m feeling ambitious try to sew something! I’ve been thinking about making a runner for a long time but I have a VERY big table so I haven’t started yet. I really like your’s though, maybe I will like it enough that I will just start sewing!
