Last Sunday Vince started his two weeks holiday from work. Yay!
We are not going away on holiday or anything but we do have a few fun things planned and I thought I’d share it all here. It’s all about storing memories 🙂
On Sunday morning we took a drive up to one of our favourite woods for a walk. We didn’t walk for too long or too far but it was a beautiful quiet morning. When we got back to the car we stopped for a small picnic lunch before heading home.
Obviously I forgot to take the camera with us :/
We spent the rest of Sunday afternoon cheering Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final, which was a fantastic match!
Monday was spent visiting some family members. First we called in on my mum who had made a gorgeous picnic lunch for us all. We decided to take a walk along the beach but it was far too windy so we went down to the sandpit instead. We ate sandwiches made with homemade bread, a chicken, leek & asparagus pie baked that morning and fresh raspberry muffins sat around a picnic table. I love mums cooking!
Emma thoroughly enjoyed playing in the sandpit for hours but once again I didn’t take many pictures because I was wary of sand getting into my camera. I did however, manage to snap a photo of Emma LOVING her first 99 with a flake ice cream sat on her nan’s lap!
Mum also gifted me some more vintage fabric! It’s really pretty floral prints I’ll have to show you in another post 🙂
After mum’s we went to see my Nan. We wanted to give her a birthday card & pressie as Tuesday was her 78th birthday! It’s funny, until I sat down and thought about it this week I really hadn’t realised her age, for a lady who is nearly 80 and lives on her own (of course family is close to hand) Nan is doing really well!
The pictures of flowers are from her back garden which looks absolutely beautiful at the moment. There is just so much colour and variety of flowers. There is also, hidden away in the back corner, a wonderful raspberry patch that is currently having the most plentiful early crop I think it’s ever seen. Vince and I were quite happy to go and pick some while Emma and her great nan were playing on the lawn, and we have brought a large punnet home 🙂 I can’t wait to find new ways to use them, does anyone have any favourite raspberry recipes?
Tuesday we took a trip slightly further afield up to Hertfordshire, to the Harry Potter Studio Tour to be precise. It would be fair to say that I am quite a huge harry potter fan, of both books and films. For my birthday last year my dad and his partner gifted me two tickets for the tour and on Tuesday I finally dragged Vincent & Emma along with me! LOL!
Sadly Vincent is not such a fan but I think even he found some of the sets and exhibits impressive. I thought the whole thing was incredible, the sheer size and detail of some of the props is incredible. I took an awful lot of photos and I’m not going to post them all but here are a few favourites.
Oh and I would like to open a shop in Diagon Alley please! Thanks!
The rest of the week has been based at home. Emma and I have developed colds 🙁 but I think we’re both still quite cheerful, the fact it is sunny helps I think.
There has been tidying, cooking, gardening, lots of playing, sewing, walking, and relaxing. The weekend looks set to bring more of the same and there may even be a little barbecue if we’re lucky. All done together as a family and it sounds wonderful to me! Simple pleasures are the greatest!
I will hopefully drop in over the weekend to show you some of what we have done in the last day or two 🙂
Until then, how has your week gone? Any exciting weekend plans?
