Oh dear, it’s been a strange week here. Vince and I had both been feeling a bit run down and out of sorts this last week, I think it’s because neither of us had been sleeping very well (not because of Emma, she sleeps like a star). Then on Tuesday both Emma and I woke up with horrible colds ๐
Vince is fine though. He maintains that he only gets one cold a year and as he’s already had it he has nothing to worry about (I don’t subscribe to this theory but we’ll see). He is also sleeping soundly again and for the last two days has sneaked off with Emma for an afternoon nap! Not that I’m jealous. Or bitter. Or otherwise resentful of his rest and good health. Can’t you tell?
Well today was back to work and routine for us all and I decided that perhaps some air would do Emma and I some good. So we took Vince to work, filled our pockets with tissues, and went for a stroll through the park.
Spring and autumn are my two favourite seasons and I was really hoping for some beautiful autumn foliage, I love all the vivid colours. However, we’re not quite there yet. The leaves on trees are starting to turn but everything is still predominantly green. I had ย also hoped for some crunchy leaves under foot but sadly, thanks to all the recent rain it was more of a muddy leaf mulch (which reminds me I must clean off the wheels of the pushchair!)
Still it was beautiful and I just love walking through Alexandra Park, it’s so big with so many different walks I could spend all day just wandering amongst the trees and lakes.
The walk certainly seemed to do the trick aswell. This morning I felt worse than I had all week but I feel considerably more like myself again now. Emma seemed to enjoy it too although as ever she is far more interested in all the dog walkers we pass than nature itself but that’s fine by me.
It also gave us an opportunity to debut her new hat which I crocheted a few evenings ago. It is perhaps a touch on the big side but it keeps her warm and will last her through the winter. Plus, I think she looks darn cute in it when she hasn’t pulled it off!
Well I hope you are all feeling considerably better than we are and that you are enjoying the start of autumn ๐ I’m off for a mug of honey, lime & ginger and possibly a bowl of salmon chowder, cosy, home-style, cold combatting stuff!
