happy homemaker monday #5

Happy Monday!

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet this month!

Emma has learned to crawl with gusto and she is pulling herself up on everything in sight which has come as a bit of a culture shock to me! I am spending my days running around behind her stopping her from falling over and hurting herself and everything else has fallen by the wayside to some extent.

However I’m back now 🙂 so let’s talk about….

The Weather ::

Oh my word. It is horrid isn’t it?! I can’t believe my last post was ‘Sunny September Sundays’! I was sitting in the park with Emma on Saturday enjoying the sunshine and then all of a sudden autumn arrived with all its rain and gloom! So much rain that this morning my drain got blocked by some gutter debris and flooded my back patio. Suddenly realising it was about 5 minutes away from creeping under the back door I donned wellies and a coat to unblock said drain. Not a nice monday morning job :/
On the other hand it makes for cosy afternoons indoors with all things comforting 🙂

On my reading pile ::

I can’t decide what to read at the moment, I am considering re-reading The Hobbit before the new film adaptation is released. That said I’m not entirely sure if I am looking forward to it or not, I think they may have ‘adapted’ it too much. I’ve also got The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams on my coffee table which I may pick up again.

I’ve just realised that there is a Martin Freeman trend to my book choices, hmmm…

On my TV ::

Downton Abbey – of course!
Doctor Who – although I haven’t felt particularly strongly about this series so far, I’m not sure why.
Bones Season 2 – We have been watching the boxset via LoveFilm, it is a brilliant show.

On the menu this week ::

Monday – Butternut Squash Risotto
Tuesday – I have no clue for the rest of this week I’m not very organised at the moment!

On my to do list this week ::

Always washing to be done but it’s back to hanging out on airers indoors 🙁
Having recently acquired  some new furniture, courtesy of my mum moving house, I have some rearranging and sorting out to do.. and a whole new bookcase to fill!

What I am sewing, crocheting or creating ::

I am on the last few rounds of Emma’s rug and I’ve been crocheting leaves and little pumpkins for my autumn mantelpiece. I’m also in the midst of making baby sandals, owl rattle and various other bits with a view to maybe opening a shop on Etsy….

 Looking around the house ::

Vince is at work. Emma is crawling around my feet playing with her socks that she’s pulled off. I have some beautiful flowers on my side table that I can’t get enough off. The rain has paused and my windows aren’t steamed up anymore. I’m trying to choose between taking Emma into the dining room to “help” me sort out and snuggling up with her and a film….

….Or not, we ended up playing with her toys and pottering in the kitchen a little bit 🙂
